With the warming temperatures there have been multiple reports of soft or rotten ice around the edges and around aerators on most these lakes use extreme caution.
   

Laramie Plains Lakes

 

 

 

Lake Hattie:  Fishing is Slow to fair . Ice conditions are between 6"-14". West end has open water and soft or rotten ice. East end down from dam has best ice at 12"-14"

Approximately 7 to 8 feet of water was put into Hattie this summer as well as a fish healthy stocking.

Tackle to use:  Jigs tipped with meal worms or wax worms, in white, pink and natural colors. Spoons; Krocodiles, Kastmasters, Thomas Lures, Lil Cleos(Gold, Silver, Bronze), Daredevils, and Swedish Pimples can be used for bigger fish.

Bait:  Night crawlers, Power Bait, Eggs, Mealworms, Wax worms, Salmon eggs and spawn sacks.


Meeboer: Reports indicate that Meebor has partially winter killed.

Tackle to use:  Same as Hattie.

Bait: Same as Hattie


Twin Buttes: Fishing is slow.  8"-12" of ice. The game and fish did not stock this lake to our knowledge this year.

Use same set-up as Hattie.


Gelatt:  Fishing is slow to fair.  8"-12" of ice.
Be careful of open water or thin ice around the aerator. 

 Use same set-up as Hattie.


Leazenby: Fishing is Fair to Good.8"-12" of ice.

Use same set-up as Hattie.


Sodergreen: Fishing is Fair to Good.  8"-12"

Use same set-up as Hattie.


Alsop: Fishing is Good.  8"-12" of ice

Starting January 1, 2010
"The creel limit on trout shall be two(2) per day or in possession. All trout less than sixteen (16) inches shall be released to the water immediately.
Fishing is permitted by the use of artificial flies and lures only."

Northern Colorado/ Walden Area

Walden Area Lakes:  Lakes are fishing Fair to Good. Some big fish are being caught. There have not been any recent reports on ice conditions.

Tackle to use:  Jigs in pink, white and natural colors with meal worms, Krocodiles, Kastmasters and Daredevils.

Hohnholz: Lakes are fishing good.

 

   

Alpine Lakes

Lake Owen: Fishing is Good to Great. No recent reports but ice will be 20+ inches.

Tackle to use: Jigs in white, pink and natural colors. Small spoons in gold, silver or rainbow color. Accessible by snow machine only.

Bait: Night crawlers, Power Bait, Eggs, Mealworms, Wax worms.


Rob Roy Reservoir: Fishing is good. No recent report on ice but should be 20+ inches. Accessible by snow machine only.

Use same set-up as Lake Owen


Snowy Range Lakes: Fishing is Great. Ice is at least 20". Accessible by snow machine only for the most part.

Tackle to use: Use same set-up as Lake Owen 

Bait: Night crawlers, Power Bait, Eggs, Mealworms, Wax worms.

Laramie Area Rivers

Little Laramie: Is frozen.

Wooly Buggers Black or Olive #8-12, Hot Head leeches,  San Juan Worms (red) #12, Bead Head Flashback Pheasant Tails #14-18, Scuds (olive or tan) Copper Johns (red)#18-20, lighting bugs, Crane Fly's, Small black and red midges, and princes will work the best for fishing this early in the spring.

Small spinners such as Panther Martins and Mepps in gold and silver color. 

Bait: Night crawlers, Meal worms.


Big Laramie:  Is frozen solid

Use same set-up as Little Laramie

   

Curt Gowdy and Pole Mountain

The ice around the edges of the Curt Gowdy lakes has become increasingly weak due to warm temperatures and fluctuating water levels.

North. Crow Res: Fishing is Good. Ice is 8"-12".

Tackle to use:  Tear Drops and Jigs in white, pink and fluorescent colors. Krocodiles , Kastmasters (Gold, Silver, Bronze), Thomas Lures (Gold,Silver, Bronze)  and Daredevils.

Bait: Night crawlers, Power Bait, Eggs, Mealworms, Wax worms.


Granite Res: Fishing is Good to Great. Ice is  8"-14". There is open water and rotten ice by the inlet and dam.

Use same set up as North Crow Reservoir.


Crystal Res: Fishing is  Great.  Ice is  8"-14".

Use same set up as North Crow Reservoir.


Beaver Ponds on Pole Mountain:  Frozen solid!

Tackle to use: small pink, white and green jigs tipped with a meal worm.

   

Wheatland Res #3

Fishing is Fair. Water level is up from the last few years significantly.  No reliable reports on ice. The lake was stocked in summer with all sub-catchable trout.

Tackle to use:  White, green, and pink jigs, Krocodiles and Daredevils.

Bait: Night crawlers, Power Bait, Eggs, Mealworms.

Toltec

Fishing is Fair to Good.

Use the same set up as Wheatland #3.

East Allen

Fishing is Slow to Fair.

Use the same set up as Wheatland #3.

Saratoga Lake

Fishing is Good. 10"-14" of ice.

Tackle to use: White, pink, olive green and other natural color jigs tipped with meal worms. Thomas Lures, Daredevils and Krocodiles

   

North Platte River

 

 

Gray Reef:

Fishing is Fair

Flows are around 500 CFS.  Water clarity has been clear.  For the most recent flows on the Reef CLICK HERE.

 

Flies: Wooly Buggers and BMB's (Brown, Black)#8-12, Nilla Buggers,   San Juan Worms (orange or red) #12, Red rock worms, Molting amber scuds, rusty scuds, PMD split foam back, bionic midges and flash midges, Pheasant tail, and prince.

Lures: Mepps and Panther Martins (gold or silver), Krocodiles, Swedish Pimples, and Cyclones, rainbow and brown trout Rapalas.


Miracle Mile:

Fishing is Fair to Good. 

Flows are around 500 to 550 CFS.

Flies: Griffiths Gnats, Renegades, Bead Head Pheasant Tail Flash Back #18-22, 20, Orange Slickers , Black or Olive Wooly Buggers #10-12, and Nilla Wooly Buggers #8-12, San Juan Worms (red), scuds (orange or rusty), princes, pheasant tails and midges.


Saratoga Area: Fishing is Fair to Slow.  As always check before heading out.

Flies:   Bead Head Pheasant Tail Flash Back #14-16, Princes, Copper Johns, San Juan Worms (red),  lighting bugs, Wooly buggers in Black or Olive  #6-10, Orange Blossom Specials, Flystore specials, and princes.

Lures: Mepps and Panther martins (gold or silver), krocodiles, swedish pimples, cyclones, rainbow and brown trout Rapalas.

Encampment River

Fishing is fair. Same as North Platte River.
